CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Mission Gagillapur is the Hormann Group’s CSR and philanthropy initiative. It aims to bring together citizens of Gagillapur, local Government and corporations in the area to create a solid foundation and joint vision for locally driven development. Unlike traditional philanthropy, it is a systematic and structured approach interested in the long-term development of the area.

Creation and nurturing of a registered, representative and functioning civil society organisation for the development of Gagillapur has been at the core of our strategy. One of the basic requirement for eco-friendly development of the neighbourhood was to provide purified drinking water and water storage facility. Currently, more than 300 households are now receiving delivery of purified drinking water at their doorstep through a community managed water purification plant.

Clean energy is an important part of any sustainable community. When the request to support the administration through LED electrification of all street lights came to us, Hoermann was more than happy to support this initiative. It helps reduce cost and is great for the environment. More than 700 lights were installed in a Private Public Partnership initiative.

INITIATIVES

  • Contribution to schools & education: Shakti Hörmann is always committed to chase innovation and excellence in everything it does while serving the society. It is an honour for to do our part for the future generations of our nation. We proudly donated 15 Benches to Guntru Basti MPPS School, Telangana so that nothing stops the little ones from achieving their dreams! Our donation of Bio compost-designed toilet doors to Zilla Parishad High School, Gagillapur, Telangana emphasizes our dedication to improving infrastructure, promoting hygiene, and fostering sustainability through collaboration with Beacon AHEAD.

  • Akshaya Patra Foundation: Supporting 525 children across four government schools in the Gagillapur area with hot and nutritious breakfast every day for the next 5 years beginning June 2022. Breakfast being the most important meal of the day, would not only ensure adequate daily nutrition for the children but also motivate them to attend school on a regular basis. Additionally, Shakti Hormann has sponsored a customized food delivery vehicle along with food carrying containers that can carry meals for over 1500 children in one trip. This vehicle uses a puffed body to reduce loss of temperature and keep the freshness of the cooked meal intact till it is served.

  • Livelihoods Training: 75 women have been trained in basic tailoring by USHA Ltd., as a livelihoods initiative and among them, 5 identified as master trainers by the company. Several of them are also working from their homes now to supplement family income.

  • Health and Education: 300 patients at various health camps, special awareness building on women’s health issues have been facilitated by our work in the village. We have also taken up supporting schools through additional staff, distribution of bags, books and shoes as well as benches.

  • Support with Entitlements: 75 People supported with facilitation of access to Government entitlements such as pensions, identity cards and food subsidies. These are particularly important for the migrant work force that typically lives in poorer circumstances than the rest of the village.

  • Lake beautification: We supported an Initiative to create a ‘green lung’ space around the lake in Gagillapur by constructing steps for the use of the water body during one of the most important festivals in Telangana. While this is a long-term objective, public use of the space has already begun with the ‘Bathukamma’ festival celebrated energetically around this water body.

COOPERATION WITH THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT

In this endeavour, the Hoermann Group started working with the German Government through GIZ, the German Development Agency to conceptualise and implement a project under their Private Public Partnership programme- DeveloPPP. The project, titled “Improvements to Site Conditions in India”, aims to support the new municipality of Dundigal to prepare sound plans for Land Use, and Municipal Solid Waste Management. Signed between the Hoermann Group and GIZ in August 2018, DeveloPPP is a three-year project to build a scientific land use plan and municipal solid waste management plan at a broad level for Dundigal municipality, but also at a detailed level in Gagillapur. Structurally, the DeveloPPP Project in Gagillapur would be a first of its kind, bringing together an international development agency, the private sector, the community and local administration for the development of a rapidly growing peri urban location in a developing economy.

WAY FORWARD

As we complete over three years of work on Mission Gagillapur, we remain convinced that the sustainable way forward is to be driven by the needs of the community, provide them with first class technical support and co-create solutions with them. Having established a presence in the community and having gained valuable experience in conceptualising, implementing and sustaining programmes, Mission Gagillapur is now poised to become a significant force of development in the village- a platform to bring together stakeholders for the comprehensive transformation of Gagillapur.
